Because people curse, they swear, utter profanities, say bad words, hurl obscenities, are foul-mouthed, start effing and blinding, cussing, and turning the air blue with their expletives. And like it or not, this “bad language” is part of the backdrop to modern-day living.
On the positive side, swearing performs several useful functions. It can be used to offend and intimidate, but more often than not, it’s used to convey some sort of negativity. Swearing is commonly used to create attention, but sometimes, simply to keep the conversation informal. And finally, as I’m sure you know, people often swear involuntarily in response to pain or misfortune.
Research has shown that swearing is most often used in frustration with oneself, or in solidarity, or to amuse someone else. Either way, it is a complex social signal that is laden with emotional and cultural significance.
Be warned though — some swear words and bad language can create a particularly unwelcome experience for certain people, even if for most of us they’re merely part of the colourful world we live in. When sending a card or gift from Fuckoff Bird, you’ll need to be mindful of other people’s sensitivities.
But as we both know, sometimes, on certain special occasions when saying it politely isn’t enough, only a well-chosen swear word will do.
So, how do you make the most of that special occasion?
Send your message with an indecently funny gift or card from Fuckoff Bird, of course!
